I have a 29 gallon planted tank. I am wondering if I can do any shrimp. I have 2 german blue rams, 3 dwarf gourami, 2 BN pleco's, and I want to finish it off with a school of neon tetra's. I have a 3 gallon tank with a couple guppies and a hillstream loach and a cherry red shimp. I think he is really cool and want to do shrimp in my larger tank. I got some cherry red shrimp but they ended up being babies and juveniles and even though they had vegetation I haven't seen a single shrimp in weeks.:( So do I have to go bigger then that? I was thinking of a asian filter shrimp but I am afraid he will get picked on because of this filter arms. I think a Giant asian filter shrimp will be to big. I want to stay away from anything that might attack the fish. Because the 2 BN pleco's are long finned and I don't want them loosing peices of those pretty fins. So can I do shrimp at all? and if so which kind?

That's kinda what I was thinking. I was hoping I would get lucky though. It seems every shrimp will either get picked on or will pick on the fish. There isn't really a safe middle ground where they leave each other alone.

I can always do plan B and empty out the 3 gallon of everything but shrimp. Then have a little shrimp tank.

I agree with others, if you have lost shrimps in 29G tank, then it is not a safe tank for shrimps.

Settup a dedicate 10G tank for shimps only, then you can enjoy them very much and even breed them.

When you buy shrimps online, you normally get baby or young shrimps that are roughly half inch large, as the youngers are stronger than adults and easier to survive during shipping and adjust themselves to the new environment.

i have a 10 gallon RCS tank only and snails i love it!

rams will seek and destroy shrimp. You could have something like amano shrimp, which get to 2". They wouold be your best bet.
