I am looking at canister filters for my 55 gallon tank that is planted. I am looking to buy something nice, and am looking at eheim filters, espescially the pro series and would love feedback from people!:werd:
Definitely better quality than fluval IMO, though I think the classic series is a better design than the pro series for long-term durablilty if lacking the convenience.
Simpler design all around, less parts to wear out or break in the long run. Eheim has come out with the pro series and the real high-end line with all sorts of add-ons and conveniences to keep up with other manufacturers, but they don't filter water any better.
I ended up getting a pro instead of a classic because it seemed easier to set up and clean. I've heard a lot about the classic being difficult to clean and prime. I went for the easier model.
I have two classics and a pro and I prefer the classic. It is a little annoying to prime but I love the simplicity. I also like the fact that there is no media bypass.
yes you can run inline stuff with the classics i have a 2211 and 2213 and run inline CO2 and a Hydro in line heater on each one. while i like the classic thay are a pain in the *** to prime and i think the pro series are just to expensive and i would go with a Marineland C-series or a Sunsun canister filter over the pro.
