Carpet Protection?

it is a type of spray silicone that you can spray on that will not allow the water to penetrate.......it will bead up and be easier to clean up with a towel of wet/dry vac.

pick up one of those clear hard plastic carpet mats that go under your desk to so your chair rolls easily on it. That could help!! Maybe?

I'm liking these ideas too!!

AND the garbage bags...

Hehe - Maybe if I incorporate ALL these ideas I'll not destroy the carpet...

I had yet another 'oh no' moment a couple of nights back when I had the pressure up too high on the hose - 'waterblasted' the tank, ceiling, walls, floor... ya get the idea :wall:

I'm the ideal person to test out those 'fail-safe' ideas on, if there's a way to stuff it up - I'll find it!! :grinyes:

Well now........if that is the case C&L........maybe you shold just encapsulate the entire work area......you seem to be quite clumsy!!

JUST KIDDING BY THE WAY!!!

I have had those moments myself........ya know......like when you have your thumb at the end of the gravel vac hose and you get pre-occupied by something going on in the tank and you completely let the hose go so the water pours vigorously all over your legs and feet and floor and wall and.....ok I think you get the point!!!

hey all, the very best thing i've found for this is some of that self-adhesive carpet protection film stuff. you can keep a small roll of it and just put it down whenever you are doign work and its waterproof, so no wetness can get through. when you are done, you just throw it away.

Damage to the carpet from fishtank water? Seems to me that you've got to be spilling a lot of water for it to be a problem and only doing a water change every six months. I had a few spills back in the siphon days but I would just pull out my carpet cleaner and clean it up. It also gets out all the food/juice/milk/mud stains that my 3 year old leave behind him. I usually give the carpet a thorough cleaning every 2-3 months and it has really decreased the rate of wear.
This is what I use.

the only problem i really get with my carpet is my gangly arms dripping after i remove them.. my hands are in the tank so much, that i mounted a towel hook and towel on the wall beside each tank. Then i can grab it and dry off immediately.

haha....nice idea with the towel hook!!!!:):):)
