That's a common... Sailfin, HiFin, Spotted, it's called several different common names in the chains. It will grow large, and will grow quickly.

Awesome... how far south do you have to go before you can keep tropicals outdoors overwinter- I've heard of Cichlid ponds before but they normally have a hot-tub heater in them for the winter months.
Must be fantastic to have a pond of them.
I am curious what the water parms are like- is it hard water where you are?
yeah, the do kind of look like bluegill sunfish from what I can see from pics online of them.. especially because of the 2 black spots. how big do bluegill sunfish get?
