It is South American, chanchito is Spanish for "little pig". The proper name is Australoheros oblongum. There are several species of Australoheros, but it seems they still need to be properly studied and classified.
I believe the males are supposed to grow to 8", but that remains to be seen.
Unfortunately, I waited too long to separate the fry. There were none left when I checked in the morning, and the other adults are starting to venture out from under cover again. Still, not a bad run for their first spawn. The HRP's I had in another tank never even made it to wigglers 3 times straight. Naturally, they did just fine for someone else after I sold them.
