changing sponge in power filter

The next chance I have to go the my lfs, i plan on looking for a sponge that I could use on my 2 10g tanks. I'll try to check the next time I go to wally-world although I doubt they have very much to choose from. (I know their fish dept leaves a lot to be desired as far as the care goes) Anyways, wish me luck, i am going to try something new :)

I highly reccomend Big Al's (did I just say that) for sponges, cheap, good selection and great shipping/customer service here in the States anyway. I get many of the sponges I use from them.

Is there a web address for Big Al's, i've never heard of them. Let me know, I may try to buy from there.

I run an Emporer 400 on my 55gal. The filters have carbon pre-packed in them, however, I only replace them about twice a year. I just rinse off the debris at every water change and stick em back in. Nice thing about Emporers is the extra basket for media. If needed I can put some fresh, new carbon in there.

My 20gal tank has a Wal mart special (Regent?) power filter which only has the filter cartridges. So, I bought the AquaClear sponge, cut it into 2 pieces, and squeezed them in after the filter but before the water goes back into the tank.
