I can tell you that in Rock Hill, just south of Charlotte their isn't **** except Petsmart..

I had a girl at Petsmart tell me of a great place in Charlotte.Carries all types of fish that you can't find anywhere else.I haven't been there yet to verify it.

Asian Tropical Fish II
1308 The Plaza

Most Wonderful Fish Store in Charlotte!! (IMO)

Just thought I would let you know of a place I found. It is awesome! :)

Fintastic
2135-C Ayrsley Town Boulevard
Charlotte, NC 28273
#704-525-0049

They also have a website www.fintastic.us

But they don't really show a whole lot of stuff on the website. I took a chance and went by there. Let me tell you I had to pick myself up off the floor! :bowing: They have a great selection of saltwater fish, freshwater fish, supplies, corals, etc. You have got to check this place out. :dive2:

fintastic looks pretty, but it is kinda overpriced and the quality of fish is sometimes not that great. you have to make careful decisions when you go there. is that skinny 1.5 inch gold nugget really worth $100?

side rant : I'm 5'2" and i can't see into their top row of freshwater tanks unless i jump up and down. very frustrating.

Fintastic, with the above caveat... Often they have fish you can't find anywhere else. But usually sick, and have to be nursed. Last Place on Earth on tryon by university sometimes has great deals on fish and tanks both, but it's hit or miss. Asian fish on plaza and central is worth looking at.

has a list of stores

also has lists and is a charlotte based forum...

I found the Asian tropical fish store to be absolutely crap.

Fintastic is impressive, is over priced, and I've found that with other stores of it's size. Their SW selection is huge.

I've never seen sick fish there, but I've only been a few times, but the rams I bought there have all done well for me.

Best selection with out going to the internet.

Charlotte here as well. I am going to have to look at a few of these places. Any recent advice about the stores here? Fintastic looks shiny and new but from the comments here maybe not the best bet. Petsmart gave me good advice from what I have read here but they are probably hit or miss depending on the clerk I get. Petland ticks me off because of how they sell dogs (don't get me started) and their freshwater fish look to be non-existant.

I'm on the south side of the city but willing to go where I need to for healthy fish once I get my little tank cycled.

Oh yeah, let's not overlook Wet Pets out in gastonia... Decent selection and quality fish... if you want to increase your range, Asheville aquarium will order any fish they can find, or tank size that you need.. Why would I go from charlotte all the way to asheville to get fish? Cause the owner sent back the first three shipments of the fish I wanted untill he got a perfect specimen. Because when his fish get ich, he QT's the tank and will not sell em till they are well. I like his commitment to quality at the Asheville Aquarium.

Thanks. I'm going to investigate the Gastonia store. The Asheville store sounds worth checking out as well but maybe this summer once my son graduates. I'm already in the car 4 hours a day getting him to and from school. :thud:
