Check out what I did in 4 hours last night...

I'm guessing the big part of the money for plumbing went to the valves right cuz I don't know but PVC piping is pretty cheap tho. Have you tested yet?

Thanks. Yea it has been running for the last two days and it is fantastic. Yea the pipe was cheap but all the connectors and valves were the cost uppers. When I get my 4,000 running I am actually going to scrap the pipes used on this tank. Im going to actually create a sump behind the tank with the pumps as the return. I might just use the one side i used for the input and moveit to the other side of the pump and use it as the output.

It seems like that pump, under pressure could fill the trash can faster than it can empty, is that a concern?

Also, could you put the pump on the bottom of the trash can and pull the clean water out allowing the dirty water to siphon into the top? Then you could put the filter under the tank. The reason I ask is because I'm looking to do something similar and I'll have about 15' of head to push water up.

Easy people...really...fish are supposed to make people happy! :):):):) I like your tanks and I'm stoked to see that 4kg completed!

Thats why I have the valves on there, otherwise yes it would easily overflow.. It is running about half speed so about 5,000 gph instead of 10,000. I probably could try to do that but there is no under the tank. The tank is sitting on the ground. If you did it for your it could almost act as a giant hob filter that flows in from the top.
