Cherry Vs. Amano

That's a common problem with ghost shrimp. I've heard of amanos being sold as ghost shrimp. Pretty much anything transparent and shrimp is sold as ghost shrimp, so it's hard to know for sure what you have.
 
Yes, apparantly in Hawaii, a transparant wild-type Neocaridina species is sold as "ghost shrimp"- which is probably why some people have the belief you can't keep cherries and ghost shrimp in the same tank without them cross-breeding... If you live in Hawaii (and probably some other places) it's true.

I've also read that some Walmarts will sell juvie Macros as ghost shrimp...

... a dangerous situation if you're expecting Palaemonetes
