Yes, apparantly in Hawaii, a transparant wild-type Neocaridina species is sold as "ghost shrimp"- which is probably why some people have the belief you can't keep cherries and ghost shrimp in the same tank without them cross-breeding... If you live in Hawaii (and probably some other places) it's true.
I've also read that some Walmarts will sell juvie Macros as ghost shrimp...
... a dangerous situation if you're expecting Palaemonetes
