ChicoRaton's 20 gallon aquarium log

Could. I was looking at the Tylo's... Couldn't find out if they are sexual or asexual... isolating a color variant would be cool but there is a lot less genetic variation in asexual organisms...

Too aggressive, too delicious.

OK so it turns out tylomelania spp are sexual though I do not know what the dimorphism is or how to differentiate the genders. I think this will have a new thread as these critters are fairly new to the hobby and totally fascinating. I've seen pictures of some cool variants but there aren't that many in the US...

Definitely peeps in the inverts section know stuff about tylos and can help with your questions!

I am starting to re-think the tylomelania species... You kind of have to have a species tank for them it seems... Maybe I will put them in the 10 gallon. So, for $60 I got:
-Iron stand (I know)
-20 gal tank (re-built... orange peel textured glass on the bottom makes me nervous but I am sure it will be OK.)
-10 gallon tank that fits in the bottom of the stand
-Heater for each tank - "Elite"
-Gravel
-Cheap a** whisper filters
-light hoods
-clump of java moss
-"aquatic" plant - the green/white striped kind
-Anubias sp? - Unidentified plant
-A bunch of fake plants

:-)

Photo coming.

Don't even bother saying anything about the stand. There is no flex and the welds are good. It's sturdier than it looks.

Nice! Ripe for the filling! :headbang2:

I didn't know iron stands were bad?

Y'know, dwarf crayfish (CPO) would be nice in that tank, with some added rock/wood/plants. They even get along with shrimp! Add fifteen or so habrosus corydoras (I'm obsessed, what can I say) and call it a day! :D Just kidding (do it)!

That ramshorn snail is about the size of a nickel. Habrosus max out just under 1 inch.
