Cichlid and tank help please!

Ok I am putting an order together to order from Jeff Rapps. I'm really excited to do this. Ok bare with me.

I have a broken 75 gallon tank in my garage, and I'm going to replace the pane. I will NOT order the fish until I replace the pane, re-seal it and have in up and running with an old(cycled) filter.

So let's just say that all that is done, and I'm ready to order. I am ordering these fish for sure. Here they are.

6) Amphilophus Festae 1.5" (festae cichlid)
2) Amphilophus Calobrensis 1.5" (calbrensis cichlid)
2) Geophagus Discrozoster 3" (no common name)
1) Archocentrus Octofasciatus 1.5" (gold jack dempsey)
3) Parachromis Managuense 1.5" (jaguar cichlid)

When I order, I will have TWO 75g tanks(75g A/75g B), a 29g and a 10g. All up and running.

Here is how I am thinking of stocking it.

In 75g A, I will have an 8" O, and a 14" Channel cat.
In 75g B, I will have six 1.5" festae, and two calobrensis, with 10, maybe 15 dither fish.
In the 29g, I will have the three 1.5" jaguars and the two 3" geos.
In the 10g, I will have one 1.5" geophagus brasiliensis and one 1.5" gold jack dempsey.

Ok so what do you guys think on my stocking? Please be aware that these are grow out tanks, and will be upgraded. :) If you do not agree with the stocking, what would you change around?

Thanks guys!

Festae - 8" and VERY AGRESSIVE!
Jags - about 16 inch for male and about 15 inch for female, very agressive and always hungry.

Jack Dempsey - upto 11" can be agressive and very territorial.
Amphilophus Calobrensis - 10" Typical Cichlid
misc: O's 15", Geophagus surinamensis 10" and geophagus brasiliensis which is 12"

a single Jag in either of the 75g will do it maybe add the geo/dempsey However I think death to the Dempsey will still happen.

Other 75g could be a single festae and an oscar.

Maybe on Eartheater[Geo] in the 29, even that is cruel.

Yes you can squeeze other fish in there, but your list is too ambitious mate.
My stocking is quite bad, and I'M INSANLEY worried about stunting, which btw, will be your next problem.

Don't even think about putting a dempsey in a 10g, growout or not, it's just stupid.
Not doable even for growouts. but that is what most people say, including myself. to keep the overstock police at bay ;)

My advice is to go back to the drawing board maybe save for a 300g+ and go for your stocklist.

Good luck.

I have ponds and 180g+ tanks just waiting for these fish to grow up! =]

These are just temporary growouts. I make SURE I have the resourses to keep fish for life. =]

Well if it were up to me now I would not get it. But he was my first fish and have had him since day 2 of fishkeeping(:headshake2:). I might get a 10 foot pond, and if I do, the oscar and channel will go in there. It is really a toss up. Still lots of deciding to do.

Channel cats aren't considered tropical, but they do fine in very warm climates like in Florida and TX, so warm temperatures aren't exactly a concern. I'm pretty sure blues like it a little cooler but will also tolerate high temps.

The 3 jags, 3 calobrensis and the 6 festae all in one 75g. Then get a lot of dithers and put huge ammounts of filtration it. Then, put the GJD in the 29.

I think your advantage here is that you'll have enough fish to spread aggression.

I still dunno...I say put lots and lots of territory and see how it works out.

To what size are you planning on keeping them there? As juveniles they might be fine for quite sometime I'd think.

Bump for a revised list! :)

6) Amphilophus Festae 1.5" (festae cichlid)
2) Amphilophus Calobrensis 1.5" (calbrensis cichlid)
1) Crenicichla "Cobra" 4" (cobra pike)

3) Microgeophagus Ramirizi (German Blue Rams)

Ok. So in my 10 will be the 3 GBR until a pair forms, then sell the other one.

My 29g will be open with the Royal pleco, so the 4" pike will be in there until he is around 6-7", then he'll be placed in my 75g.

In 75g A, there will be an 8" oscar, 4" jag(no tail anymore, 7" previous) and a 14" channel.

In 75g B, there will be 2 calobrensis cichlids, 6 festae, and maybe 10 dithers.

Thoghts?
