Cichlids dieing

I have found that juveniles are more sensitive to changes in the water..these may be subtle changes. they can also be subject to genetic abnormalities that may result in death.

it is not uncommon for 'weird' deaths to occur in young fish. i raise angels..I have seen juveniles live thru some pretty tough conditions..I have also seen some in a brood die for no apparent rreason while others survuve with no problem. I suspect part of the problem may be to in efficient immune systems in the juveniles.

I guess your statement seems to make sense. I haven't had any experience with juveniles before, weak immune system might be the cause of the death like you said. I guess next time I will consider buying a bit bigger fishes, the only reason why I got juveniles is cause they are less aggressive.

there are plenty of reasons to get young fish..price is the big one. dime sized angels are cheap..as low as $2 ea..but get a medium and expect to pay atleast 5 times that price.

with young fish i recommend bare bottom tanks, frequent feeding and frequent water changes..they are very senstive to changes in water. food can pollute water quickly. and frequent feedings means more waste. but they will get stronger and bigger faster this way.

Thanks for the good ideas. Right now I have been feeding them once a day. I will start feeding this twice a day now, that way they will grow faster. As far as water changes are concerned I do it every week.
