I had a cleaner shrimp for about a week and it had a nice hiding spot and im assuming it was happy because it molted the 3rd day in the tank and was eating little pieces of raw shrimp every now and then but i went on vacation for 5 days and came back and it was dead. The temperature was at 90 degrees! my city was in the middle of a heat wave and it heated up my room which heated up my tank and killed the shrimp. the crabs and snails were fine though. Im going to go but a pair of them when my LFS gets their next order in ( which should be in the enxt couple days). Question though: do they need fish to thrive??? I no they clean parasite off fish but if there was no fish in the tank would they still live happily?? Not that im not planning to add fish or anything just wondering because i dont have any fish right at this point and was curious if this adided in the death of the shrimp.
