Cleaning plastic plants

In my aquarium I have several plastic plants that have a huge number of very small pin-like leaves or needles that are slowly turning brown.

I would like some advice on the best way to clean the algea off of them.

Bleaching? Boiling? Would bleach dull the colors? Would boiling melt them?

Try a solution of 1 part bleach and 20 parts water, let the plants soak for a few hours and scrub clean.

I do not think this solution will dull the colous of the plants.

Well as above, but you probably only need to soak for 5 minutes and rinse several times with hot hot tap water really well.

A friend of mine just threw her plastic plants through her dish washer with NO soaps, they are very CLEAN I will do it next time that I nee mine cleaned, just don't sani dry them or they may melt:shake:

I run mine under hot water and while wearing a rubber glove rub the plant between your fingers. Takes a little while but works.

Either bleach or Oxyclean will speed the rate at which plastics get brittle by a bit, but it is a worthwhile trade-off IMHO.

An old toothbrush is perfect if you have to scrub them. Even better the old head on an electric tooth brish will speed things up really nice.
