I had filter floss, the kind that comes in a ball. I stretched pieces to fit in the media trays. Thanks for the idea.
I live near a Big Al's (in Canada), so I'm not sure they price match things...I didn't even ask, I was in immediate need. I should have used the time i had before the bacterial bloom to research and purchase a new filter. Experience is something you get immediately after you needed it I'm afraid...
Since adding the Emperor 400, I swear the water is so clear it looks like the fish are flying around in mid air. I would even drink it, if I were in a pinch. I can't believe what a great job this thing is doing. I am considering adding a second, and moving my penguin to a tank I'm going to set up for a Blue Lobster.
