CO2 system at drsfostersmith

works just fine for me. makes life very easy. if you have the time (or energy) you can get better pricing by shopping the components from different sources. Save a lot of money that way.

That is a sweet kit, Not sure on the pricing, being from Canada and all. I paid $150 for my regulator, $99 for my solinoid valve, $246 for my Pin Point controller (and love it). I have an in tank reactor which was $40 and am thinking of getting the inline , (less clutter in the tank). Conponent wise, it is a nice kit, the pin point was a little tricky to set the high and low settings and the manual isn't the best, If you need help when you get it let me know. I had a 5 lb tank and upgraded to a 10 lb tank, it barely fits in the cabinet but man I have my ph set at 6.6 and that tank has been at 900 for 4 months now. One more thing with that inline reactor you don't need a powerhead to drive it like the in tank one, it run right off the output line in your canister filter.

Good luck,

Terry.

thinking of the pin point. Find a source for "calibration fluids" (they cost $2.50 US). That way you can recalibrate on a monthly (or quarterly, or weekly) frequency. Never hurts to keep it accurate. Every month (maybe 2) seems to work for me.

Here is a link to a photo showing a 75 gallon after 7 weeks of having a very, very similar system running. http://www.tropicalfishgallery.com/photo-gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=10052&pos=0 . If you scroll to the 16th photo in that gallery you will see the difference just 6 weeks maks. Somewhere in the gallery is a photo showing pre CO2 system. It has made life easy. all I have had to do is mess with fertilizers and make minor CO2 adjustments to control the algae.

It's a good system but some of the items aren't necessary, but luxuries.

For pressurized CO2 this is what I would get.

Milwaukee regulator + co2 tubing from ebay - $80 shipped
External reactor Aquamedic 1000 $60 or make one yourself $20 if you have a canister filter. Glass diffusor, or sweetwater stone aquaticeco.com if no canister.
5-10 lb cylinder from welding supply or fire extinquisher shop $80-100

Aquabuys.com has some setups as well.

This looks like a good deal if your really want the ph controller. But it's not really necessary.

You can save yourself at least $150 if you buy each individual item and do further research.
