Hi all,

My science teacher has a 35G long. In it currently is 1 Bristol shubunkin. Will it be alright for me to put a couple of butterfly plecos, large minnows and weather loach in there?

Thnx RTW

Personally, I think you should leave it as is. If you put all those other fish in, you are going to be seriously overstocking the tank.

i wasn't going to put them all in lol. they were just ideas! btw the tank is 4ftlong and 1 foot wide And 1 ft tall. How many gallons is this?

uhhh. . .. you said in your first post it was 35g. . .

don't add anything else, the shubunkin is more than enough fish for that size tank.

I wouldn't put any plecos in because not only do goldfish have a huge bioload, but plecos do as well. Basically....they poop a whole lot.

plecos are not coldwater fish. they are tropical and do not belong with goldfish.

The tank is more like a 30g and only would likely hold 25-27g, so a goldfish would be comfy in there alone. You could run 2 maybe, but only with a heck of a lot of filtration. It's likely the filtration is already inadequate with a goldfish in the tank as they require more than most tropical types.

A couple of bristlenose in there... Well maybe. But again I'd worry about the filtration.

Im afraid you are wrong wataugachicken, Butterfly plecos are indeed a coldwater species.

I cleaned the tank out today, there was hardly any waste material in the tank, so i think 2-3 would work just fine.

The filtration is perfectly adequate, a fluval rated for 55G.
