i havent ever had a disease and my bettas are thriving . . . . you are making this way to complicated for her, i did keep some of my bettas in a bigger tank and thery acted the same as when in a smaller one . . . why would you waste a 10 gallon or higher on a fish ? i wouldnt if they seemed happy in something smaller which they do . . . you guys are worse than tree-huggerrs . . but w/e my fish hate me because i treat them horribly . .. i guess ill just go to hell for not overdoing it . . . which you people apparently think is good . .. . my friend has a betta in her 50 gallon . . it just stays in the corner . . . . but yes however you want to do it . . . its a matter of personal opinion . . .

Anyone ever see Elmyra on the animaniacs?

Someone once posted this "Is it all about the fish being happy, or all about you?"

I've read this post, and for bettaguppy1226, it's all about themselves. So don't bother with the keyboard Roan, what this poster needs is a little maturity, a splash of responsibility, and a boatload of consideration.

As this is a fish forum and not a self-improvement seminar, I suggest we retire from this thread and pray for the fish they own.

Happy Happy Betta

A note the gravel has been changed to all browns and was finally planted with real plants and I talked my son out of the skull - as the big guy finally couldn't get in and out without assistance.

A 2nd note - notice the sponge filter on the right (which he loves to play in the bubbles) and the nice small wattage heater on the left??? Yes yes a very happy guy indeed. Insert some breeding snails and he has constant munchies by way of baby escargot and snail eggs

thailand area actually there you go . . . rice paddies and shallow pools of water are natural for them as in as long as its bigger than those stupid cups they sell them in its much improved . .. they have room to flare and w/e but bettas honsetly wouldnt know the difference, they arent picky and they are not like us at all . . . so why try to insult my fish keeping when you use a human as a comparison to a flippin fish ? now if i kept them in like the toilet i would understand you being all omg you sinner but not whe i feep them in bowls that they are fine in . . . i dont get some people these days . . . .

Well now...Rice paddies have natural filtration of plants and soil. they have a gazillion more times of a water surface area for oxygen exchange. They have enough water mass to maintain a stable temeprature. They have enough area for fishes to have their own territory, and hiding places for them to feel safe.

You can keep your fish how you like. Just don't present it as the optimal way to do so, or try to tell people that are trying to explain how to that they are wrong.

Now that's a nice little tank. The skull looked OK, but I hate those tacky tie dye looking ornaments, so I'm glad you took it out! Bettas appreciate stylishly understated digs to contrast with their gaudy finnage...

Sorry, betta baby, gotta hijack the thread. Please follow Roan's and the others advice. Thanks

Betta guppy...You lie.....You have suffered a disease despite what your post says. It was Lackum Common Sensius (excuse me please, all you teachers, for the adjustment on the Latin). I really think the big fish keeper in the sky needs to scoop you up in his net and toss you into a closet so you could thrive like you propose the bettas can.

It is not a matter of personal opinion, it is a matter of humane treatment for something we have taken out of it's natural enviorenment. It is also called personal obligation and accountibility. Your bettas probably acted the same way in the larger tank because your disease spread and they didn't know they could swim more than 4" without hitting the barrier.

You state that you are going to Hell. Hope you can get an early start by getting use to the food at Long John Silvers'..it is fried crispy.

Okay, somebody take the keyboard. (I have installed the limitless cable on an automatic rewind reel).

Can I use some $#@!!@@#$$ next time?

Bravo, rbishop, bravo. Bravissimo!!!!! :thm:  :thm:
And you, too, Roan. :thm:

I know this sounds just pretentious as all get-out, but perhaps we should have a forum set aside for just the juvie crowd?? w/e LOL

Hmm, I dunno, I've been having unpleasantness all day with someone who claims to have 26 years of fishkeeping experience.

How about we have a section dedicated to people that act juvenile... it would fill up quick!

now that everybody's done venting

I'll recap. Bettababy- keep the filter unless it makes a strong current in the bowl. You'll be able to tell if the betta is having to fight the current. You can get a small heater at walmart. Wherever you get it, you need a constant temperature in you tank that is within the bettas' optimal range. Keep the plants and any other decorations you like, its your bowl and anyway, if the plants are alive, they are helping the water quality. Do water changes at least once a week, using water conditioner. Enjoy your fish.
