DAHHH!!!! Waiting for pics is killing me!
I had an asian theme going in my 45g. This is what I had in it:
Aponogeton ulvaceus
Aponogeton undulatus
Cryptocoryne crispatula "balansae"
Cryptocoryne parva
Cryptocoryne undulata
Hygrophila corymbosa
Hygrophila difformis
Java fern "Windelov" and regular Java Fern
Nymphaea stellata
Rotala rotundifolia
I had some anubias on a piece of driftwood at first, but it bothered me so much! It was the only plant that wasn't from Asia... I finally took it out, so I could finally focus on everything else in the tank. LOL
If you don't want to change your substrate (noticed you had a thread on that), you could always put the big plants/heavy feeders in unglazed clay pots with awesome plant substrate in it (I use potting soil topped with small gravel).
Anyway, good luck and for goodness sake POST PICS!!!!!!
