I've got 2 three or so inch african cichlids in my 29g with a fairly large convict(about 7-8x larger then the africans in total mass) but my blue african( not exactly sure of its species) keeps beating on the convict =O. For a while, the convict was the boss, he would chase the other 2 whenever they got near his territory, but now, the blue one goes right up, nips his fins, and tails it before the convict can do anything. The convicts fins are getting worse every day, but the bites are so small, it isn't doing a whole lot of damage. The only reason the convict is in the tank, is because my mother had it in her grotesque 10g (all alone, no decor/plants, and completely covered in algea) and it looked pretty near death, so I wanted to save it. It seems to be doing extremely well now, very dark stripes, and really active, but I'm a bit worried the african will kill him once he's a little larger. Any advice?
