Cooling the tank on a budget

why not just buy a window ac unit and cool the one room, or have the window ac blow on the tank itself. It will be a pretty similar effect as a chiller. You can find used ones for less than 100 bucks.

We should all find a solution against global warming together.

Just kidding.

Quick question.

Blowing a fan over your surface, how much does that really help the temp in terms of degrees? I live on relatively cooler area, so heat is not TOO big of a problem, but I did see my tank shoot up to 86 at one point this summer... Makes me wonder if it will only get worse in the years to come.

It helps a lot! With the exception or days getting 107+ humidity factor ere, computer fans were all I needed to keep the tank cool enough. On the other days I floated ice and reduced the light cycle. With my sump being finished and running a clip on fan on it those days will hopefully be safer.

Thanks Grins,

One more question.

I guess it has to be over the surface of the display tank only right? and not over the sump?
