i got out of the shower and saw that the fish was caught in my filter intake.:( i used the net to nudge it off the it started swimming in circles then it fell to th bottom of the tank. it still has all of its color and its fins are still moving. what do i do?!?
please help and thank you for your time.

there's not a lot you can do apart from reduce his stress by turning all lights on the tank OFF & keep an eye on him over the next 72hours or so

look on him before you go too bed etc & then turn lights back on as normal tomorrow

Ouch- I'm sorry. Do you have a quarantine tank you could put him in? Depending on your other inhabitants, some may pick on fish that seem vulnerable and defenseless.

Whether you do or not, I would just monitor him closely. Hopefully he'll eat later or tomorrow and start on the road to recovery. Is he still lying on the substrate?

Is there a way to attach some mesh, or something like that, to your filter intake so it doesn't happen again?

Please keep us updated.

Mine got really stressed out when I moved the tank, I just knew he wasn't going to live, he was spinning in circles then he'd just lay on the bottom. I didn't see him for a day or so then he was fine. They're pretty hardy little guys, keep an eye on him and make sure nobody else is picking on him. That's about all you can do.

he is the only one in the tank so no one will pick on him. should i just let him lay on the substrate or should i keep him in a net in the tank?

Very, sorry to have seen this post. For whatever it's worth there isn't very much chance that a healthy fish would get caught in a filter intake. I'd surmise that it was suffering greatly from some sort of infection or other stress. I wish you the best of luck!
Max
p.s. keep an eye on your other fish.
