Okay so i just picked up a Julli Cory and i read that corys do better in schools. Now do i need to stay with the same species of cory? or can i mix up the species and have them school fine?
All the above is true, but deffinatelly better to keep them in one species. You'll get more out of them as they'll become more active in a proper school. and you also have the chance they may breed if you keep the water good, and feed them right.
I would stick with the julis, I have 2 in my tank right now (yes I'm getting more!) and they completely ignore the other types of corys in my tank. I feel bad for them, they definately don't seem as happy as my other group of corys!!
I agree with the groups of 3 or more if you have the room...I have a solitary cory cat and there is nothing like watching a group of cories school in the newer tanks! My bigger tanks will always have a group of these from now on as they are great well-tempered fish.
Well both of the fish stores i went to didnt have the same species, so i bought 2 spotted corys. They get along great with my single Julli but im going to try to find a mate for him soon as i come across one.
Is it normal for cories to swim up and down the back of the tank? Or are they supposed to stay on the bottom most of the times?
