Corydoras Sterbai - virgin birth?!

Will try and get one of the albono - but s/he definately doesn't have coloured pecs - is pure white.

kinda looks like a peppered on the sides

Here are the other 3 potential parents. As you can see, the pepper's spots are far less symetrical, and much larger than the baby's...

Your little cory looks a little more like a haraldshultzi than a sterbai imo although the two are often confused lol, its too hard to tell in your pic but does your albino have orangish pectoral and or ventral fins cause thats usually one of the only ways to distinguish between an albino sterbai and aeneus its possible you could have an albino sterbai though theyre not extremely common due to the cost being higher than aeneus or paleatus albinos.

Thanks Blisskr. As stated above, the albino definately does not have orange or coloured pectoral fins - completely white.

I see what you mean about haroldshultzi - however, that doesn't explain who the mum or the dad are! Also, there is some orange on the pectoral fins of the young one, so I am still convinced that one of the parents is the sterbai...

I'm stumped as well... did you add plants maybe?

Immaculate Cory Conception... We all should be so lucky.

That was exactly what I was going to ask next. It is possible that a fertilized cory egg was on a plant leaf and got into your tank that way. That is the only thing that makes any sense. The baby cory looks like sterbai, but you need two sterbai to have sterbai young.

Thank everybody.

I have added one set of plants...so it's not completely out of the question, however, when I purchased the Sterbai, he was suppsoed to be the only one in the shop....and the plants came from a specialist "plant only" section of the shop...however, I guess something could have gotten into them by accident!

Unless there are more new babies, I guess I will never truly know!
