CP terrarium thread, continued

Well I just bought a Exo-terra turtle tank 24x14Hx18 at my work for $15, regular price was $99. I consider this the deal of the year. Bad thing is, I have no clue where I am putting it or what to put in it. I might buy a new rack tomorrow. The kind that JB has.

Some pics I took last week and haven't had time to put them up.

Do you want to go with CFL or not? You would just need a couple of the light domes from HD or Lowes and a box of bulbs and you're set. That's pretty much it pappy-dew.

Agreed... daylight CFLs with as many lumens as possible and some of those reflector domes. Cheap and easy... just like I like 'em.

The pics are stunning, Paul! Nicely done!

K... I finally got some shots of the copellandii. I threw in a couple of the sanguinea, which is getting really cool, and one of the growing field of scorpiodes.

Here's a picture of the space for my rack in my new house. Hopefully I'll be moving in in the next few days.

That recess between the two closets is about 43" wide and 2 feet deep. My plan is to basically just make an insulated box out of it: coat the walls and floor with foam board insulation with some sort of a plastic front (removable). The top I'm planning on doing with a screen frame. I have a plan to use the fans I have to basically be able to control a lot of the humidity. I think it will give me a lot more room and control to be able to move the neps and maybe ceph out of the terrarium and into the rack, and free up the terrariums for the helis and the lowii (the only one who really needs special conditions. These conditions (from what I understand should work well for Orchids too.

I was planning on setting up a separate rack near a large east facing window for the droseras. I wasn't thinking of temp or humidity control other than the ambient conditions. Does anyone forsee a problem with this?

Dang those pitchers are big! You should just make a grow room from the start of the door(left) all the way to the right wall.:grinno: For the droseras, I think as long as you acclimate them to lower humidity conditions, they shouldn't have any problem.

Pony, My raffs are in a terrarium with humidity around 80% all the time. They are lowlanders and need high humidity and warmer conditions. hope it helps.

Nice shots!

I was hoping there would be a more efficient way since most likely I will be moving a bunch of the dews into the 20L at some point. I havent exactly been in the loop and wasnt sure if anyone stumbled upon something...
