CP terrarium thread, continued

Dammit (pun intended), the same thing happened up in Maryland. Luckily Dr. Sheridan collected some of the purps from that site before it was too late.

I'm not going to be buying any more CPs for a while, just picked up two new orchids. I couldn't resist a new Paph.

Here's my grow list;

Dionaea muscipula x4

Sarracenia purpurae x1
Sarracenia minor (probably dead)

Drosera adelae (more than I want to count)
Drosera capensis

Nepenthes ventrata

Well guess what I just found after pruning all of the dead pitchers/leaves.

Now getting down to business. The humidifier.

The first one is just kind of a air pusher, while the second one is more of a siphon type. Now the more I think about it, I might go with the pusher version because the fan will always be on and since the air will be hitting the water as it goes out, it will be carrying that much more humidity with it even if the fogger is not on. On my way back from class today I'm gonna be picking up a lid and PVC piping and probably tubing.

Nice! I agree with plan A. Seems to me like it would be more efficient.

Looks like the coffee may have had an effect, eh?

And what would give you that idea?
Got my bucket, lid, fittings, and tubing today. Just have to put everything together and wait for my float to get here. Other good news, I don't think my plants aren't getting shipped till Monday. So I have that much more time to get my tank ready. I also need to go in the woods behind my house and collect a little more sphagnum moss.

jbradt depends what kind of look your going for. But Sansevieria's would be a good choice. Most other prefer being out side in the full sun. San's seem to like the shade more. They come in various size's shapes and colors.

Dang all of your CP's look nice. If I had the space and know how I think I would give them a shot again.

Those are cool, GEV! There seems to be a ton of different species in the genus. I'll have to do some research. Thanks!

Well I finished my humidifier today! Easier than I thought it would be. Works pretty good. I am using a 12V fan with a 10V power supply. The mist is getting forced out with a pretty nice power. I might switch the power supply with a 5.2V just to slow it down and have another separate fan blowing more air into the tank. We'll see what my stats are.
Install all fittings with silicone, let dry. Shave down fan to make a square fan fit in a round hole. Have the mister on a float so it is just below the water. That's pretty much it.

I got my ZooMed hydrotherm today. It is a lot bigger than I thought. lol

Cool... keep us updated with how it works!

I was wondering something... at what point do you guys trim dead/dying pitchers from your plants? I was doing some trimming today, and ended up trimming a couple of old pitchers from a couple different plants. They were all at the point where they were totally dead from the opening to just about where it starts to bulb out but the lower part was still alive. Any thoughts?
