Craigslist 40 Gallon Journal

Just a heads up, if you ever switch bulbs make sure you check the k rating. I bought bulbs labeled as "bright white bulbs" that turned out to be yellow, 3700k lighting. Even with 2.2wpg and seachem flourish, my basic, low tech plants barely survived.

Thanks for the tip :)

Anyone?

I'm most likely going to go for this stocking. What does everybody think? Is the top of the tank going to be bare looking? Or will the tetras, angel, and platies swim up there too? Also, what does everyone think about bleeding hearts and angels?
1 Angel
10 Tetras
3-4 Platies
1-2 Dwarf Cichlids

I don't think I've seen angels or neons at the top of a tank... But I think the platies might. what about bottom swimmers? (says the cory lover) :)

I'm undecided if I would want cories in my tank. If I did, I would have to decrease the numbers of the other fish and probably forgo the dwarf cichlids. Dwarf cichlids would inhabit the lower part of the tank.

Hm, I suppose shrimp are out of the question with your stocking list. Maybe a couple nerites or a nicely colored brigg for cleanup?

I never really considered it, but I might think about it

Your stocking sounds fine. Platies will swim all over, the others more in the middle of the tank, with the cichlids near the bottom. There are not many fish that stay in the upper waters.

Thanks for the help Gregg! Do the numbers sounds fine too?

the angel will be a mid level dweller.. the fins pretty much keep them that way.

dwarf cichlids , rams or apistogramma will inhabit the lower half of the tank.

tho my blue rams are all over the place and often mid to top of the tank.
pairs will inhabit the lower half.

most tetras and platies will be all over the tank.
your stocking sounds fine.
