Craigslist buy: My 100G tank brace broken, sealant questionable, NEED INSIGHT 32 PICS

I removed the inside sealant from the sides, I left the sealant on the bottom as it looked secure. Just got back from home depot, got some acrylic, gorilla glue, screws, clamp, and aquarium sealant. Going to town now with a friend on the tank.

I also got that foam for under the tank, 8x4 for $11.23. Light blue on one side, silver on the other. My camera battery is charging but I am going to take pics of all materials and the process.

be careful with gorilla glue. it is very strong but will expand a lot as it drys.

The new silicone will not bond with the old....remove it all.

very nice find. hope you get it done right.

****, I already removed just the sides and left the bottom. I siliconed over the corners though. I guess I will end up redoing the entire tank in 48 hrs. I might test it to see if it holds water first though. Or just completely tear it down again... I hate messing something up then having to wait to fix it! sdfklajsdflskjfdsl!

I am just using the gorilla glue to bond two pieces of acrylic together, then screw them into the brace that is there.

Thanks, I am trying my best to get it done right.

personally, i would replace both frames for two reasons:

1). then you know that they are structurally stable
2). they match. if you can't find a matching brace for the bottom, its going to look a little odd.
This makes sense. I saw glasscages.com only has up to 90G dimensions. Maybe they will make one for my size?

*yawn* yep I got a job on my hands. I'll remove the tank and take more pics of the stand. Where would I be able to get a new upper frame if my brace doesn't seem to work? I have searched for AGA 100G frame and to little avail.
Get your dimensions of the tank and match it up or call them. That is an integral piece of the tank.

Did you find that all at Home depot? I looked for aquarium sealant at Lowes but none were safe for aquariums. is you silicone safe for aquariums. Most are not safe might want to check. And about the foam, that at Home Depot too?

Everything from home depot. I will take pics of the stuff later. I ended up buying a 120G today from petsmart, 350 tax included for tank, glass tops, lights, ugf. It's the same dimensions as my 90, just 60" in length.

I didn't feel comfortable redoing the tank for my living room. I can't imagine 100G of water being on the floor. Having to rip up carpeting, redoing hardwood floors = VERY EXPENSIVE.

It was smarter I believe to get a tank that is built professionally. I'm sure you guys would understand. It's worth it to pay more now and have that piece of mind.

I'm a computer guy, web / graphic designer. With redoing a tank... I should be ok... BUT if it was to leak. I'd be kicking my self in the *** and in the wallet. BIG TIME.

Now I gotta play musical tanks and sell this 100G.
