Since you're on an aquarium topic I think you should know that a little crushed coral in your filter will serve to raise your KH and help stabilize your pH, allowing you to continue using your CO2 injection system. Also, bamboo shrimp are filter feeders. It's possible that they grew to a size where they weren't getting enough food out of the water column and simply starved.

Didn't you just start keeping fish like, in September? Or was that just plants...? Were you not the author of a post, September, this year, that went like this:

Hi all. I have a 55g planted tank that I would like to start fetilizing. I'm new to the planted aquarium thing and have asked questions about it here before. I would like to start using CO2 and ferts to help my plants outcompete algae but, before I do, should I get rid of my air stones? I kind of like them and the fish love them. Might want to check your anger and ego at the door... you need to ask a lot of questions before you make such a suggestion, especially about putting crushed coral in a tank.

And there was no implication in the question that I desired to continue to use my CO2. You need to read more thoroughly, instead of searching for places to be non-responsive and condescending.


And my KH is high enough, and my pH is not unstable. And your experience in this field is not lengthy enough for me to be impressed.

Hmmmmm.....some people in the aquatic plants forum who I'm sure know a lot more about water chemistry than you can ever fathom have recommended that and other methods to me. Are you implying that they are somehow giving bad advice as well? Why don't you look and see who gave what advice from over there and tell them that they are giving bad advice.......but, wait, you can't............because you don't know much about water chemistry........

Sooooooooooooooooooooo........you're saying that a small amount of crushed coral, on the order of a few tablespoons, placed in your filter, will not help to raise your KH and help stabilize your pH? This runs contrary to everything I've ever read from the people who've answered any of my questions on this forum.

True. But you did imply that your pH was getting so low that it might be harmful your shrimp. Since they can tolerate a good range of pH, you must have been pretty **** low to have that concern.

First off, I doubt that this was a trap that was deliberately set up. You're not smart enough.............if it was, it was a bad one since I'm just repeating info that was told to me by some pretty knowledgeable sources.

I think I would actually go so far as to request perhaps the removal of such low ended personality. While some may disagree with tactics employed in conversation methods on this board, such personal attacks and language is not acceptable.
