I'm sorry. I started reading this thread because, once upon a time, I was interested in getting a crayfish for my tank. Unfortunately, this deteriorated into a "save the world through proper use of grammar" thread. That's really useful to those posting in a message board about aquaria.
TetraBotia, not that I'm defending the supposed "Troll" in this thread but, if you are going to place yourself on a pedestal and criticize someone for poor use of grammar and syntax then you'd better **** well make sure that what you write is absolutely flawless.

Yeah- well sorry to sound so snobby about it, but I was trying to make the point, that while it is ok to sometimes be willy nilly about grammar and syntax (and maybe even spelling), there are times to be a little more clear and professional, for lack of a better term.
I think you need to work on your use of punctuation. What you meant to say is: "Yeah. Well, sorry to sound so snobby about it but I was trying to make a point that, while it is ok to sometimes be willy nilly about grammar and syntax (and maybe even spelling), there are times when it is appropriate to be a little more clear and professional for lack of a better term.

When I see someone use something like "ur" and "prolly" and "ppls" and "wut", over and over, I begin to wonder if it is the kids fault or our schools fault...
Well, while you were riding your high horse, you forgot to place apostrophes in "kid's" and "school's" to imply that these words are being used as possesive nouns.

but certainly someone has to tell this or these kids that, while being "cool" might be fun for a while, getting a job and making a living is ultimately far more important.
In any paper this statement, along with its other half above, would be considered a run-on sentence resulting in points deducted.

the only people I know that are illiterate and still trying to put being "cool" first are criminals and drug addicts.
Sooooooooooooo, because this kid used a method of typing that might be accepted by his peers at his/her age group, he/she is now illiterate and is going to grow up to be a drug addict or a criminal which, by the way, can be considered one in the same. Oh, and by the way, in your original posting, you used two periods at the end of the sentence prior to the one quoted and you forgot to capitalize the "T" in "the."

So wise up kid... whether you like it or not the world does pass judegement on you based on the way you present yourself, and some of those people who will be passing judegment will have the keys to doors of success for you... Utilize written language or attitude like "wut" and "ppls" and "srry" and the only keys given to you will be limited to McDonalds, or some back breaking factory.
So, let's see............you know everything about grammar and syntax and you can now predict the future of a kid about whom you know nothing other than the fact that he/she uses a way of communicating on an informal message board that you don't like......................in my opinion....you need to get laid, and soon.
I'm not even going to proof-read this post because I KNOW that I'm not perfect and I don't ever plan on telling anyone how to live their lives, let alone how I feel they should communicate with me. You need to get a grip and realize that this is a forum about aquaria (did you notice the URL?). If you don't like what someone has to say or they way they say it, ignore it (yes, I realize that I'm not following my own advice right now). It's people like you that make places like this so utterly worthless to people at times.
That being said, I'm not even going to read the rest of this read because I'm sure it just continues to degenerate into some kind way off-topic discussion about grammar and the woes of society. If that's the case, I can only hope that the moderator decides to lock this thread so he/she can help maintain the integrity and original purpose of this site.
