Creating an Interesting 20 gal

Correct. Pure H2O evaporates leaving the salt behind in a higher concentration, so you top off with RO/DI or distilled to bring the salinity back down.

i thought so but just wanted to make sure you didnt mean it evaoporated :) thanks for clarifying.

I'm working almost full time and going to college, so I don't really have the time, money, or energy to research saltwater tanks and adequately take care of them. I know freshwater requires a bit of care, but freshwater fish (and the components that keep them alive) are also considerably cheaper and less of an investment. I just don't think I'd have the spare cash to spend on RO water and protein skimmers and etc. I do appreciate the suggestion, but unless I can do saltwater with around the same monetary and time investment as a freshwater tank, I don't think I can commit to it. If I'm mistaken and there is an "easier" saltwater setup, let me know.

Keep the suggestions coming guys!

id do a nano tank. with a bunch of nano fish and some blue pearl shrimp or red cherry shrimp. id do

6-pygmy corys
endless number of shrimp(only one type)

Would Bluespotted Sunfish work with Pygmy Everglades Sunfish?

I don't think they would work together. Considering Everglades Pygmy sunfish only get about an inch long and Bluespotted sunfish get 3.5 to 4 inches. Even though bluespotteds aren't that aggressive they would still chase the pygmy's into hiding.Pygmy sunfish already hide a lot so you would most likely never see them.

You could house bluespotted sunfish with a crayfish. As long as the crayfish isn't a really large species.

Mr. Catfish, do you recommend any particular place to get Bluespots? I was looking at Sachs out of St. Augustine, but $35 for four fish plus shipping is a little steep sounding to me.

I live in Florida and have a freshwater fishing license, but I just moved from rural Central Florida to the Tampa Bay area, so I'm not sure of any good swamps around here. I've caught bluespotted sunfish on accident before, which is what sparked my interest, but whenever I've tried catching them again on purpose I've had no luck.

What would be a smaller, native crayfish species? The Electric Blues are medium size (I think) and are from Florida, so would they go well with the Bluespotted Sunfish?

don't try catching them, just go on a random fishing spree;)it could work...........

I vote for rockwork, some driftwood, sponge filters and maybe a powerhead with a sponge over the intake, and toss in a half dozen 'butterfly' hillstream loaches.

Sounds like you're shooting for overstocking the tank. If you use the 1 inch of fish per gallon of water rule of thumb, you're looking at at least 30 inches of fish.
