you should try glowfish in the setup bcuz they are really shiny and the extra light from the rocks would enhance that.
Oh memories!! I had my first tank - a 5.5 gallon with crushed blue glass just like you propose. Same color and everything. That was back in '76. The fish never got cut from it. Of course, I did not know about water changes or vacuuming or the nitrogen cycle back then. But I can tell you when I swirled the whole thing around to "clean it" boy did it hold a ton of stuff! But, I must say, I did truly love that gravel.

did the fish live ok. or did they die from the gunk in the rocks.
If I were to do it I think white is what I would go with so as not to startle the fish and wouldn't have it pulse or anything maybe a lazy fade in brightness?
