What about just upping the number of neons? They look great in numbers.
Another option is cories, which hang out at the bottom and are really cute to watch. You want 3 or 4, though, as they like being in groups, too.
Another option is a betta, with a color that compliments the neons. The betta should be ok with neons, but of course it depends on the temperament of the betta.
A 10gal is pretty small for danios, which is probaly why they are driving you, and the neons, nuts. My danios zip around constantly, too, but in a bigger tank it doesn't seem as bad.
