My mommy guppy had 'at least' 19 fry 2 weeks ago, and she still looks like a floating marble. lol The kids are cute and about half of them were born with little black fins. Here I thought I'd be clever and separate the males and females to cut down on the population explosion. Ha! Funny thing... right after she had her fry she still looked pregnant, so much so, that I wasn't completely convinced it was her fry. (Had to be though) I know they can store 'daddy's donation' for months. Just makes me wonder how long shes going to be preggers. The poor thing!!

Gee... If she keeps this up I might have to get tank #6. lol bummer. :D

mine gave birth three separate times after she was isloated by herself! About two weeks apart each if I remember right...maybe a little more.

Ya... Well... By the looks of her , and how she's acting, shes gonna pop any minute again. I doubt she'll make it a whole 28 days.

Wonder what I'm going to do with all the kids. OK...so NOT gonna feed them to ANYONE, so lets not go there!! I was going to take them to a LFS, but after my last visit thats not happening. (bad conditions). Hmmm.... e-bay maybe...

i believe that female livebearers can store sperm from their mate(s) for several months if not longer, so she may not need to mate in order to get pregnant again.

It wasn't a joke. It's true. Many animals do that, even insects. I guess it did kinda sound like a joke :o Sorry.

Do a search on these forums for "store sperm" and you'll come up with a lot of hits and links to that fact, especially among livebearing fishies.

Do I really sound that sarcastic? Is that really what you think of me, chickeepooh? I'm glad you weren't too scared of being flamed to post this question, though :) It has to do with HOW the question is asked, I think.

LOL, no silly, I was laughing at my guppies reaction to the camera. She freaked. Ya, I know they can store sperm, for like, ever. :) Just never encountered it before. The colored babies were a pleasant surprise too.

Ok. Disclaimer. I won't even pretend to be a good photographer so I know these pics are not the best.

Oh, phew, I feel better ;)
Those pictures turned out really well, I think. She is indeed a "chubby mommy".
