Dead Birds & Fish

As long as I am alive, I will be worried about one thing or another. That being said I don't think that just because there is nothing we could do to prevent it, doesn't mean that we should not, or cannot discuss it. :)

My favorite part was when Neil pointed out, that people buying into the doomsday crap "didn't take enough science in school". :grinyes:

lol yeah, I got a good laugh from that as well

1. Whats wrong with my username?
2. The Mayan calendar ends on 21/12/12 and it is shown as floods and fire. They believed it will be the end of an age where there is destruction before a new age begins.
3. If you read up not all the 2012 stuff is "bull" as you put it. Scientists have found that there is going to be huge amounts of solar activity next year with large solar flares and when there's one large enough it will be able to short circuit the national grid, leaving the world without power.

So I suggest you actually read up on this stuuf before you say things.

1. I'm sorry but I can't take someone seriously who writes like that.
2. These are also the same people who would cut each other open to appease their gods. With any devoutly religious culture you will find an "end of days" scenario. Floods and fire are their only way of describing "when the **** hits the fan". Modern people would say global nucluer war or some kind of disease.
3. There is a lot of solar activity every year, so any idiot could apply that to whatever year they want.

I'll be fine. This tinfoil hat says so.
:grinyes:

You can retroactively find "evidence" for anything you've already decided. And what of those of us who reject the validity of all religions? Hopefully it's like one of those horror movies where the less you believe, the less power it has, cuz if that's the case, I am set!

I believe the great LOLCAT in the sky will come down and punish all those who says he can't has cheezburger. Statistically, both of our beliefs have the same probability of being right.

Can I join your religous belief in the great one?

Where is Zaffy with his tinfoil hats when you need him?
:grinyes:

oh, and they already discovered that god forgot to cycle the lake where those fish came from.

As opposed to the way that you write?

Just keeping it fair.

What does it matter what one person believes differently than another? No one is pushing anyone else into their own beliefs here, just stating that's their own. No need to start ridiculing others over it.

Exactly, personal opinions & beliefs won't change the outcome either way.

If you bring your beliefs into the discussion, they become part of the discussion. If they don't stand up to analysis, then it's your own fault for bringing them up in the first place.

Funny thing about religious belief specifically, you can't really ascribe to one without casting judgement on all of the others. Given that they all have an equal shot at being right, you're right in the sense that there's no need for ridicule. It's just when people bring them to the table with such condesencion, it's hard not to challenge them, especially if you don't share them.

I don't share the same beliefs as most but I still don't find the reason to knock people down for it. It's very easy for me not to challenge them since it ultimately doesn't matter to me what others believe in.

Some people just enjoy the argument too much. ;)

Actually, solar activity is cyclical, and peaks every 11 years. The last peak was around 2001, which would make 2012 about right for the next peak. Point being, it's not a big deal...happens all the time (or at least every 11 years).
