this morning I found a dead Clown loach at the top, I think he died from 1 of 2 things. 1 I found him floating by my affrican butterfly stuck in the plants he lives in, so prehaps the loach was bother it ( i have seen him go up there and bother the ABF before) and ABF might have just snapped or tried to eat it.
my second guess is the tank has ich. I noticed this morning some of the fish had dots on them, at first i thought thay where just air bubbles from my UGF which creates lots of tiny bubbles that stick to things sometimes, so i figured some of the bubbles where sticking to the fish, But i Just cant tell if there tiny air bubbles or acctual white dots. here is a pic of one of the living clown loaches I took 10 minutes ago go to this link, tell me if you think its ich or just air bubbles. BTW ammonia is at 0 and nitrates are the lowist thay can be on the test chart.

Sure looks like Ich to me. I suggest giving the Articles Forum a browse and fiding the article about Ich, written by Daveedka. Great article that explains how to treat it effectively and relatively safely.

*edit, ill report this later

after putting my hand in the tank and letting it set for about 1 minute i got a lot of small white spots on it, thay where bubbles which where sticking, i took 2 of the clowns out and them in a ziplock bag, thay no longer had the spots on there body that I could see, but 2 or 3 remained on the fins and tail only... those whouldent go away I also noticed some wear and tear of there tails.... I think ill give it another day or 2 to make sure its ich and not just bubbles so i dont risk putting them though all the treatment stress when none of the fish at my LFS have it ( and I just got them all from there)

Watch for flashing and scraping, fish aalways do this with ich present in my experience. if they flash I would act. If they don't I would wait if you are certain it's air bubbles for now. ICH looks almost exactly like salt grains stuck to your fish, and barring exteme coincidence it isn't going to rub or fall off you fish when you capture them.

ok thanks, i read your article on ich and found it very informitive. did you see my pic of the clown I posted? will Ich always be really obvious?

I saw the pic, but it was after you said you netted them and thought it was air bubbles. In the pic it could very well be ich, it does look like it. but it is so hard to tell from a pic for sure that I didn't want to say much. It's hard enough to tell the difference between air bubbles and ich when actually looking at the fish. Go online and look for ich pictures, you will see severe cases, but you will also get some very good close up shots that may help you. if the spots are still there today I would almost say start the salt. Loaches especially are really prone to ich, and if it gets too far alang the battle is much tougher. Any flashing activity yet ?

thay are acting completly fine playing around, but its worse today, my balla sharks also have it now. So I am going to go ahead and start salt treatment. I will let you know how things go and refer to your article

ok i just got some water out of my tank in a bucket and put 100 teaspoons of salt in the bucket, I just want confirm with you this is correct before I starting putting it back in the tank.. it seems like a lot of salt... I have a 72g

I had a fish that had ich (i think....) he was normal....
I just added some product for scin desease it worcked really good.
Don't know if this helped?
