I purchased a Gold Mystery Snail yesterday from Superpetz and it has yet to move AT ALL! Is it dead? It's little trapdoor is shut and it really has NOT moved at all.

Any suggestions? :)

put ur finger in its shell to see if u feel a zing...if not zing after multiple trys it may be dead...

Ninja seal could you elaborate on this how would the snail give you a "zing" and what excatly is a "Zing". I would see if you can move the trap door if the snail is alive that trapdoor will be closed thight if its loose and you can maybe get your fingernail in it and it doesnt try to close up you probably have a dead snail on your hands.

if u stick ur finger where he comes out of his shell...and u gently touch it for about 1 to 3 seconds u will feel a zing...letting u know he is alive

people who work at lfs's should check for a zing before they sell u any snail...

no not an eletric zing

its just a little feeling to see if he is alive...

when i 1st got my snail the guy at the lfs checked for the zing it was alive

when i got home...when i was scrubbin his algae off his shell afterwords i checked to see wat he felt...and its a zing

in otherwords u gently put ur finger on the opening of the shell where the snail is...if u get a feeling its alive..

ya maybe a little movement but if its alive u will feel a little zing

...there's a sure fire way to see if your snail is dead, take it out of the tank and smell it. if it smells like low tide it's dead. if not and you can lightly tap its trap door to see if it closes more tightly then it's alive but shy
