Dead Snail?

I'm not sure about this whole zing movement but I do know that if you have a dead snail one whiff will tell you! Sometimes my snail will close up and even float around for two or three days without opening. (I'm sure he eats at night because something is munching on the algae wafers! haha). He could just be getting used to your water conditions and temperature and all. Give him a few days and see if he'll calm down. :D

*changed screen name... It's BearsFan30 :P*

Okay, I smelled him I didn't really smell anything at all. I think he probably is alive... but I wish he'd come out and play! :P

It can take several days for them to feel safe enough to come out of their shell. The "zing" ninja is talking about, I believe, is usually a snail will move about a little in their shell when out of the water (not always though) and it feels similar to grinding. They won't always move like this though if they are scared. Smelling them (You will know sure as the world by the way they smell when dead) and gently pushing their trapdoor to see if there is any resistance both will tell you if you have a dead snail. It sounds like your snail is a live but just scared. Give him time :)

I recently bought 2 blue mystery snails and one is very active and the other kind of hangs alittle out of its shell, is it dead? oh yeah it has a triangle shaped chip near the opening.

Take it out of the water and check. If you touch his skin and he doesn't go back into his shell, he is dead. He is closes his trap door, he is alive :)
As for the chip in his shell, provide some extra calcium. He will do some light patch work however, it will never look pretty.
