i've acclimated it to SW!! i'm just that awesome... hahaha...

my bad... i edited that while i was half a sleep i guess... it's a spotted cardinal and i lost his friends while someone was watching my tank so that's why he's alone...

it was indeed a noble thing that you did, my friend.... heres hoping that the hypo treatment will bring him back from the threshold of the great beyond.

Good for you, taking on the poor guy. Hope it works out...

ps I live in an apartment and have a 75g now...do it!

My local petsmart is about a year old, and the tanks are beautiful. I've never seen any sick or dead fish, the fish look healthy and lively, even the plant tank looks great. and there are bettas in the tanks and not in those sad little bowls.

Now the local Petco is a totally different story. it smells, the tanks look horrible, and I always see sick or dead fish. :(

It was a great thing you did trying to help the poor fish.

I think it really really depends on the store.. Sometimes (just sometimes) I'm sure a big chain store will get someone who really really loves fish, and know his stuff.. A Semi LFS (Pets Plus) had a guy like that for a few years.. Water so clear you couldn't believe it.. Every fish was healthy and (looked) happy. They had this big 200 gallon community tank with so many huge corals in it that it made you just stare at it mouth wide open.. And the guy knew his stuff..

But he moved on (of course), and now it's not the worse, but it's really gone down hill..

And believe me, I'm praying I don't see a 78 bow front for under 200 bucks for sale someplace.. I'll be in ALOT of trouble... (and extreamly broke for the next year.. lol)

Oh,

I did testing on the water they gave me... You ready for this?

SG - 1.029
pH - 7.8
Ammonia - .15
Nitrite - .25
Nitrate - .50
dKH - 4 (how this is possible I'll never know)
Calcium - 150

I wonder how many fish die a week in these tanks?

I already felt bad enough about how the store didn't know what they were doing with a sick fish. Then you post the water results and I could cry.
Kudos for you for helping the poor little fella.

Well he's not moving much, but he's still upright holding himself stable in the water... I put a big plastic container so he could "hide" in if he wanted too (but I could still see him fine)..

I was debating putting some antibiotic in with him, or pickup a UV sterilizer tommorow (if he lives thru the night that is)

Anyone have input? On one hand I'd rather not do two things at once to him, but who knows what other sickness he might have thats making him weaker to fight off the ick..

<sigh>
