Denison's Barbs / Roseline Sharks

They are awesome beuatiful fish! They are great for a community tank as they are very peaceful. As already said, they do get about 6 inches long. They are also very active. A 55 would not be my first choice....but I think it should be okay. I found the roselines to be a bit skittish and would do much better in my opinion with other tankmates around to help them feel more secure.
Petsmart is never my first choice for buying fish either. Having said that, I bought my roselines from them as they were the cheapest I could find. All the local shops wanted 30 bucks for one fish!!! I had a coupon and bought 6 for 30 bucks at petsmart! they were all healthy and did well.

where'd you get that coupon?

My experience with roselines is limited, but I would agree that a standard 55g is about the minimum tank size for them. If you do go with some, just make sure you get as large of a group as possible (6-8 is about what I'd say for a tank that size). I don't know if the price has gone down but it seemed that a lot of people could only initially afford a few at a time but they get really skittish when kept in low numbers and didn't seem to last long. I wouldn't pick a big box stores stock first, but it really depends on the selection you have in your area.

Mixing loaches (even smaller species) with inverts is going to be a risk. Kuhlis aren't known snail eaters, but shrimp could easily be targeted. You'd be safer off going with corys. No matter what you choose I would definitely suggest adding more ground cover and hiding places.

I'm not a huge fan of mollies, or really any livebearer for that matter. I'd rather add another school of something, personally. CPD's might be too small given the other tankmates, but most peaceful tetras/barbs/rasboras/rainbows would do fine.

Agreed, but they definitely ate them. I watched them gang up on bigger ramshorns, MTS, and mystery snails.

all right, I did it... I got five roselines, five Black Neons, 3 gold neons (all they had) and 6 panda cories and 3 mystery snails. All have been in the tank for over a week, and everyone is happy. levels are holding strong (0 ammo, 0 trites, 5 trates and rising slowly).

I am still thinking of adding a few more gold neons and black neons, and a few RCS too.

Excellent! I love my roselines and you will too.
