DIY 72g Build w/custom canopy, UGJ & lots of extras (picture heavy)

Well I won't name any names but the owner was just released from house arrest for embezzling money from a well known aquarium organization. Said owner only got house arrest because he gave up the "big guy". It is a shame too because they have a wonderful store & really nice staff members, not to mention an awesome African Cichlid selection! The prices are a bit steep though.....:uhoh:

There is only one other LFS near me and it is quite small so my selection is limited, hence why I am trying out a fish show! (and money, always about money)

Well I did recently go to a fish store in Long Island and I never need to do that again! Great store but traffic was horrible & of course it rained too. :)

Two days ago my nitrites were off the chart and today nada! My tank appears to be cycled! The only thing that does not seem right is that after the nitrites and ammonia being so high the nitrates were only 5pmm. Just doesn't seem right.

20 more days till (the possibility of) fish!!!!! :wall: But only 3 days till my birthday! :grinyes:

Thank you Greg, I am proud and anticipating more projects!

I just went through the whole thread over the past hour or so. Everything you did turned out excellent, I am especially impressed with the canopy you made. It came out flawless IMHO. Keep up the good work and keep us updated as you make progress.

Thank you both!

I think I am going to take some more pictures of it (canopy especially).

As far as progress goes I am trying VERY hard to find the Mbuna I want for this tank but for now the fishless cycle is complete and I added 15 3in Ameca Splendens to test the tank out. So far so good, they LOVE the caves.
