DIY Canopy for AhSupply kit (10g)

Yeah, It probably wouldn't spread 'upwards' on the driftwood as much as I'd like. But it would look good covering around the base of the wood. I'm just afraid the Java Fern would over grow it or block all the light.
I'll have to find or make a shady spot for the anubia petite...I definitely want it in the foreground...somewhere. (?)...Maybe attach it to the right side of the driftwood and let the C. Spiralis grow back in to shade it.

Just curious...

If the tank is 20"x10" and the hood is 19"x7.5". How exactly is it not going to fall in the tank?

I would get some tall full stem plant to shade it.

Well heres how i have my current fixture over the tank

So for this canopy im building, I wil either rest it on top of a fully glass canopy or i will replace the eggcrate strips above with glass strips.
For space purposes i placed my AC30 filter on the left side of the tank that way its not sucking in any background plants or is an eye soar.

Also made it an inch smaller since it will be supported by glass.

Or does this mean you already have a glass canopy on it?

nevermind, you posted already.

Cardamine Lyrata would surely do the trick.

Come to think of it., I may just move 'all' my low light plants (save a crypt or two) over to the cichlid tank.

But this thread isn't about me. ;)
Sorry if I hijacked a bit...I look forward to updates on the canopy.

I hit some of your threads, as well.
I'll have to update mine as soon as I redo it. i'll even throw in some of the current pics for 'kicks'. ;)

Forgot to include. The ballast I am getting is Workhorse 2, its basically the same brand that Ahsupply uses, after talking to Kim from ahsupply she had approved that this ballast would work in my application. It is rated for 35w max and i got it from Lightbulbsdirect
Final cost of it was $25 shipped. Though if they were shipping usps it wouldve been $20.. but they use fedex

The bulb is 18w four pin 6700K I got from homedepot for $7. i tried to plug it into my setup thats over my other tank and the bulb is pretty bright. Cant wait to see the comparison of it with the current 28w thats over the 10g tank.
