DIY CO2 made easy

Is this DIY method good for a 10 gallon tank with a betta and a dozen assassin snails in it? Could I just take the airstone out of the water at night in order to play it safe?

I run it on several 10s. I also run airstones for a spell at night.

my only question is this, from what I have read, if you do not send the CO2 through a reactor or powerhead wont a good portion of it escape through the surface and into the air before the plants have the chance to intake the CO2. this is the only part of the DIY system I have been having any trouble with at all, is getting the CO2 to spend more time in the water column with my plants. thanks for this awesome write up though, I would not have though of using jello and rice to prolong the reaction

It all depends on the diffusion method. The finer the bubbles, the better diffusion you get.

for the hot water u use to fill the container to the top, can u use any hot water? or RO? tap? is it specific, just wondering as that could alter it?

I use hot water straight from the tap.

so i have RCS in a 10 but might wont to setup Co2 if i start seeing algae. how should i do this without killing my shrimps?

i am planning on doing this for my 55gal tank. can you use this glass diffuser for this?

That is one that I have not been able to test. I've tried ordering it a couple of times but they arrived broken each time. Seems to be too fragile.

Should be fine to run as normal. I always recommend using a drop checker as well. I can turn them yellow at times. ;o) You can run an airstone at night which will help ease the nerves too.
