DIY "half a ten"

Yea JP, they've got this one and the 33gal one (half of 55), looks pretty cool.

Yep, I would've probably cracked it if I scored inside, since the glass cutter wouldn't have scored in the corners.

Also have a half 29, 15, 5, and 3...

That might be something I try out in the future.

I do think the tank looks cool, but what was the reason you cut it in half? Just for looks, or did you have a short area you are putting it in? Do shellies need to be closer to the surface of the water.

And the top looks great. I need to repair my 75gallon tank glass tops and was considering something like that. I may just do it now that I see how good it looks!

Shellies only use the bottom 1/2, maybe bottom 1/3 of the tank. I've noticed that mine had troubles getting to the top of my 55 gallon come feeding time so they really only got a chance to eat sinking foods. Only the alpha male was willing to leave the comfort of the shell pit.

In the future a half 55 sounds like a neat idea for shellies as I like the footprint but the height is no use...
