thought about. dont have any big rivers nearby and were in a drought so they are mostly dried up.

Anyways, I think if you do go with the sandsifter setup you should start a DIY background project. Theres lots of builds out there, including a few on cichlid forum.

How about something anyone can do, takes hard work, but the results can be a real makeover for your aquarium. Refinish your old wood aquarium stand and canopy in a new awesome color stain and gloss poly coat. I did it and the results were well worth it. made my aquarium look like a million bucks.
or if you don't have a canopy..build one
