Cali may not have "seasons", but they do get rain occasionally. This year is unusual, and shouldn't be considered the norm climate for that area. It is usually dry, and so their 70*F. feels like our 80. People who have never been out west look at 70*F. as “chilly”, but you’d have to experience it for yourself to understand how different it truly feels out west compared to the humid east.

Anyway their wet season is around late October and only last a couple months… then it is back to dry air! Do I sound ready to pack my bags yet? :p

Dry heat is truly bizarre. If you've ever heard someone say things like one hundred degrees in the shade, that's usually a reference to dry heat. In humid climes, you simply need some air moving and a little shade to cool off, as the humidity, dark and wind blowing and evaporating said humidity, it lowers your temp quickly on your skin.

However, out here in the Texas desert, we get winds from the southwest (Mexico's dry desert air) pushing in on us. When it's 110 outside and the wind is from the southwest at 5-10mph you can pretty much guarantee it's about 108 in the shade and every breath you take is hot. On those days, i stick my head in the freezer a couple minutes to cool off between outisde chores. Someone once quipped that we have four seasons here in Texas: Hot, **** Hot, Football and Deer. I tend to agree.

PS: 75 degrees and still not 3 pm yet... This IS winter, right?

Hmmm choice of Florida or California... which should I choose...

Cali! ;)

FLORIDA!! We may have hurricanes, but at least we're not gonna slide into the ocean!

So no, I don't see any snow, but I used to really enjoy going to CO snow skiing for a week & then coming home where it's warm, & I can wear shorts in Jan.

No offense to all the great people on this board who live in Florida, but it is greatly overrated. I have never lived in Fla., but I have visited many times in different areas. I didn’t find it to be extraordinary, and certainly did not get great weather. Too humid, too hot, and too rainy. I know I sound picky… but I would bet severe weather takes place more so in Florida than it does California.

afg ~ I agree with you 100%! If it weren't for DisneyWorld, and my dad, I would NEVER go to Florida. The weather is horrid (except October!!). Humidity so much so that you walk out of your front door and your shirt is stuck to your back before you make it to your car. 3:00 thunderstorms, "Palmetto bugs" ie ROACHES, lizards, frogs invading the grass at nite, crocs in your back yard, crime (well, d.t. Tampa anyways) Jeb Bush... ugh.

Exactly. They have more bugs than Carter has liver pills. Crime is another factor I didn't think about, but yes... some of those cities within Florida do have a high crime index rating. What do you have to do to move to a minimal crime area, move to a farm? :(

You know we always go to Florida for our vacation, and the beach flags are always red or double red, but double red has only happened a few times, and the best we've ever gotten is yellow. Yeesh. But we still swim in red flag, just not out so deep.

;)

Red flag = strong undertow, dangerous to swim
Yellow flag = Be cautious when swimming
Green flag = Perfect, calm waters. (I have never seen a green flag lol)
Purple flag = Sea Life Close to the beach (Jellyfish, fish, etc.)
:D

EDIT:
Double Red flag = Beach closed to the public(because of sharks or stormy waters, etc)
