Since I have a breeding pair of convicts and a 75 gallon pred tank I'm going to let you decide what I think.

i will sit on the fence for this one as i dont feed my current fish feeders but as advised above farms for breding food for other fish and human consumption is always going to happen.
i dont like how some shops i see on the web that sell feeders keep massive amounts in small tanks it looks wrong to me.
in the UK its illegal to sell feeders.

hehe...but not from our own...

i use a lot of fry and juvies from my tanks as feeders for my fishies--they love em. i do some deep sea fishing peridically. i always eat that. fish is good. even if you are a fish.

( No offense to the original poster)

This is one of those bleeding heart topics that is as laughable as the fish nazi mentality that sometimes occurs here. There are a billion causes more noble than making sure people don't sacrifice some unfortunate fish to their natural predators.

If your horrified by this in the LEAST you had better be a vegetarian Amish farmer or you are a hypocrite in a million ways you haven't thought of.

Girls do you wear makeup? Animal tested by sticking it in some bunny's eye.
Eat ANY meat? You're a repulsive carnivore that waited around for your helping of slaughtered farm raised pig and texas steer. Wear any leather jackets, shoes...etc. You get the point.

Look on the bright side........if we weren't "civilized" enough to have some people breed and raise our food in controlled conditions you'd be out clubbing it yourself. I seriously doubt the alternative natural evolution of cavemen would have been to plant crops and sit around waiting for dinner.

I actually voted yes. Reason being is because the way most feeders are kept. They are kept in over crowded tanks that are usually full of diseases. I personally think thats cruel and inhumane. As for properly raising the fish and housing them a little better to prevent sickness and then being fed to another fish, well, it is nature and I'm fine with that. Its the same with some human meat farms. Am I against eating meat? Of course not. Would I like to see the animals have a decent life before ending up on our plates? Of course. Same with the feeder fish.
