The Rusty released a few days ago but have seen nothing.
The White Top Afra released last night.
Since then spotted two fry, not sure what they are.
Currently hiding in pebbles. Catfish is very interested. Couldn't believe it when I saw one swim right across the front of the tank. Not very clever of him. But he is young...and a fish.
Really suprised how big they are, thought they would be a lot smaller and a lot less formed.
I know it's difficult with your tank setup as it is with mine; but if you want some fry to be safer, try to catch them and put them in a separate tank prepared for those fry that you can save.
I think I've mentioned this before but I have a 130L community setup which I've been winding down but I just can't bring myself to do it completely. I always intended to use this as a fry/hospital tank. I was waiting for my Dad to build his shed so I could put it in there. He's not a fish keeper but is fascinated by the fry and the whole breeding process of mouth brooding etc
What is best to do? Move the female out when it is holding and place it in the tank? Does this cause problems with re-introducing to the main tank?
It could on the sense that they may see her as a new comer and will try to re-establish a dominance over her so you would want to keep a close eye on her when reintroduction is completed.
If you do move her make sure you create some new rock formations to disrupt the territory.
If your not really worried about the fry you will have a couple that will make it in your setup.
Finally, I have to disagree a little bit with my dogie friend; because I'm not so sure about what he says. My females have spawned 5 times in the main tank and not a single fry has survived in there. I have saved a total of 5 fry and right now 3 of them are in a separate fry tank.
