there are lots of kinds of bacteria some like light some dont the darker "might" block more light.

The more I read that statement the more I wonder where they got that from? Noone here knows? I'm just glad my filter is in the cabinet...in the dark. But the media is white ceramic. Do the bacteria know the difference? Oh, but I'm saved b/c my foam is black. Must be from New York...old stuff.
